Trail running starting points

Unpaved trails of a mile or more: a computed place to start, not an endorsement.

← All guides

We mark a trail as a running starting point when it is mapped as unpaved and is at least a mile long. That is all the data can tell us.

Footing, steepness and traffic matter more than the label. The route builder can give you a flat-ground time at your own pace.

Good to know

  • Climb is shown where we have it: steep trails are slower than the flat-ground time.
  • Bikes and horses may share the trail: check the access tags on the trail page.

How this list is made

Unpaved trails of a mile or more: a computed starting point for runners, not an endorsement of any route. The list is ordered by length (longest first), not by quality: we don't rank trails by opinion. Trails under a quarter mile are hidden.
